Priyanka Chopra married the American singer Nick Jonas in 2018. She revealed on the Armchair Expert podcast that when Nick first slid into her DMs, she was hesitant about taking the conversation forward as she was already in a relationship at the time. She was also aware that the singer was just 25 years old, and she was a decade older.
Speaking to Dax Shepherd on his podcast, PeeCee shared, “When Nick texted me in 2016, slid into my DM and we started chatting, I was at the end of my last long relationship before Nick. I didn’t want to engage as much at the time. I was like 35, he was 25. I put a stop on it in a way because I judged the book by the cover. I said, ‘I wanna settle down. I have been there and done the fun days.’ I was like ready to get serious, not realizing my husband was actually a 70-year-old man stuck in a 25-year-old’s body.”
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas started talking to each other in September 2016 when Nick sent her a message on Twitter saying, “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” Priyanka took a day to respond and asked him to message her personally as her social media team could read her Twitter messages. The two then met at the Oscars after-party and attended the Met Gala 2017 together.
The first time they went on a date was in May 2018. Nickyanka, as their fans like to address them, had an extravagant wedding in India in December 2018.
Priyanka further shared that when Nick messaged her, she was in a “tumultuous relationship at that time.” She revealed that some of their common friends didn’t want her to continue seeing the person she was with at the time, and wanted her and Nick to be together instead. Even Nick’s brother Kevin Jonas wanted him to call Priyanka. But the actor refrained from revealing the name of the person she was in a relationship with.
He said, “His brother (Kevin Jonas) loved Quantico. I’m really glad because he told Nick, pointing at me at a billboard, ‘You should call her.’ He (Nick) had a few people being like, ‘Call her’, so he just DMed me and I was like, ‘Why don’t you just text me?’ because my social team will just read these messages. He was like, ‘Ya, ya, ya, you just want to give me your number.’ I kinda did but didn’t want to admit it at that time because I was in a relationship.”
However, things eventually fell into place, and Priyanka and Nick got married two years after they first started talking. Nick and Priyanka are now parents to a 13-month-old girl, Malti Maltese.
