Sunburn: Here Are Five Tips To Help Remove And Prevent It

It’s that time of the year  Yes, the one where we see sunlight for more than a fleeting moment per day. But you know what that means…with that sweet, sweet sunshine comes the risk of a sunburn if you don’t stay on top of that SPF. We don’t have to tell you that sunburns are the worst  You know them, you hate them, and yet you still find yourself gingerly touching your burnt chest to gauge your pain scale at least a handful of times every year.

There are no magical cures for sunburn, but there are a number of ways you can give  your body a natural healing process.

1.Take a cool bath or shower.Keep the temp low and then lather on moisturizer as soon as you get out. The cool H20 may help ease the pain and reduce the inflammation caused by the sunburn, and the lotion will help trap moisture and make your skin feel and look less dry. The SCF suggests avoiding harsh soap, which can further irritate the skin.

2. Although using an acidic substance seems counter-intuitive and can work wonders for your skin. Vinegar is a perfect solution for such skin issues. An infected sunburn is worse than a normal sunburn, and because the skin is quite sensitive when it’s irritated, infections can happen easily. Apply diluted apple cider vinegar on the affected area using a cotton pad or a washcloth and repeat every hour.

3. Honey is as good as any other to treat sunburns. It moisturizes the skin while treating it. The moisture in the honey is absorbed by the skin, bringing the swelling and redness down. It also provides all the nutrients required to repair the broken tissues. The antibacterial properties eliminate the risks of getting any infection. Apply a layer of honey on the affected area and wrap a bandage around the area.

4. Not only can tea bags be used as a cure for an already existing sunburn, but studies have shown that drinking two cups of green tea a day can help prevent the burns from forming in the first place.According to the British Journal of Nutrition, drinking green tea may help against sunburn inflammation and longer-term sun damage. Although human studies in this area are scarce, green tea has many other benefits, so why not get brewing?

5. Apply Bio Oil to prevent further skin conditions if it’s not dealt with properly, sunburnt skin can turn dry and lead to lines and wrinkles in the future. This is especially true around the face, which is why experts recommend a tablespoon of facial suncream on the face and neck before going out in the sunshine.”

It’s important to treat the sunburn with products that have ingredients like vitamin E, which helps the skin heal and neutralise free radicals,” Dr. Dendy Engelman, dermatologic surgeon at Medical Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, says. “Bio-Oil Multiuse Skincare Oil is packed with vitamins A and E – which work with the skin to promote cell regeneration – and lavender oil, chamomile oil, calendula oil and rosemary oil, which invigorate and condition the skin
