The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, is not present at a meeting between the federal government and TUC representatives at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The federal government is rumored to have called the conference, which got underway at around 5 o’clock, and it’s thought that they would be talking about the effects of eliminating fuel subsidies.
Remember that on Wednesday, the government and Organized Labour met, but there was no resolution.
Reliable information indicated that the NLC had demanded that before any serious negotiations could begin, the government reinstate the old price of N195 for Premium Motor Spirit, also known as gasoline.
The NLC also claimed that there are no concrete measures in place to cushion the effect of the high price of petrol which is having an adverse affect on goods and services.
