Fashion was an open door to encounters that birthed a renewed sense of purpose within Tayo Ishola and this made her bloom with a heart that seeks to marry creative expression with good causes and raise consciousness. A former model that got discovered by Isis Models Africa, a TV Host and now social and fashion entrepreneur, Tayo developed a deep interest for the swimwear industry when she moved to Miami in 2010 and she’s since used the industry as a mission field.
In 2015, Tayo founded the Swimwear Brand Eido Swimwear. ‘Eido’ is an ancient Greek word that means to be aware, discerning or gain insight to something. Eido swimwear is constructed for the woman who is intrinsically aware of who she is. Since the brand’s inception, it has been important for Tayo to bring to life her vision of women aggrandizement beyond borders, and she has done this through the brand’s messaging, and also through the creative visual representations of this notion at Eido Swimwear’s fashion shows and events.
To launch its new collection, Eido Swimwear & The Eido Swimwear Wonder Woman Initiative represented a diverse group of women at its presentation during New York Fashion Week in partnership with Freshmes; a social platform dedicated to helping women master the juggle between work and life. Through the Eido Swimwear Wonder Woman Initiative, the brand previewed its new collection ‘Empatheia’ and honored 5 exceptional women from around the city. From battles with terminal illness to domestic violence and abuse, each woman had risen from struggle, pain, self-doubt, past limitations and had channeled it all into a passion and fire to contribute to the greater good. From ages 17 to age 62, every woman was represented at this presentation curated by Tayo at AFA Gallery NYC, with incredible photo-op vignettes put together by the Gallerist Heidi Leigh. Guests enjoyed food by Fresh and Co., and were entertained by a joint artistic performance by ballet dancer Amanda Beasley and Singer/Songwriter Marsha Elle.
The new Eido Swimwear R/S ’19 ‘Empathiea’ is inspired by women given to service, and was hand-sewn in special honor of women who have honed empathy as a virtue worth having. As the brand continues this ongoing conversation that amplifies its mission and vision of the aggrandizement of women across the world, it was important to bring together exceptional female servant leaders to the community in New York City, who not only support women and diversity but have strong character and abilities and actively use them.
