Formats for publishing
When you’re done writing, the file type you save as is the most important and it is what differentiate ebooks from every other documents. Below are the list of formats.
PDF – the most well-known file type.. displays exactly as you published.
EPUB – Electronic Publication, adapts automatically to different mobile screen size and types.
Mobi: from Mobipocket reader software and works with major ebook-readers
AZW – if you’re looking to publish your ebook on Amazon Kindle, you should consider this.
ODF – Open Document Format. This can be read using OpenOffice or any similar programs to Microsoft Office
IBA – This is the ebook format for Apple iBooks app.

One of the best places to publish your ebooks is Amazon Kindle, but the you can simply publish it on any standard website or share via email or social media platform.
Convert it into a PDF, EPUB, or any format you want…find list above. (To convert your ebook to a PDF, click File >> Save As in the ebook template you have open. Under File Format, select PDF and select a destination on your computer for this new file.)

Promote your ebook and track its success.
Create a dedicated landing page for your ebook, this could be either as a page designed on a website, or the location of the ebook on Amazon Kindle, or on a blog post, wherever your ebook can be found online must be well designed to attract attention.
Practical steps on how to create a free blog
- Go to blogger.com
- Sign in to your google account
- Click on “create new blog”
- Insert your Blog Name, e.g. Ebook on how to Import from China.
- Insert your preferred blog address, e.g. https://oliviaebook.blogspot.com
- Click on Publish.
There you have your landing page to share your ebook for free. To sell, you’ll have to create an account with Amazon kindle, Apple iBooks Author, or publish on an online store such as jumia, jiji, etc.
- Password-protect and share
This is when you want sell your ebooks via email and want to control the accessibility so that one person don’t just buy the ebook and share it to everyone for free.
When saving your file after writing, click on “save as pdf”, then choose “password protect” and insert your preferred password.
When sending the file to anyone who has paid, you’re to email the file along with the password to open the file.
