10 signs you’re a confident extrovert who doesn’t care what other people think

Many people assume that just because you’re an extrovert, you’re a people-pleaser—that you care so much about the opinions of others.

Of course that’s not true, especially not in your case!

In this article, I will give you 10 signs you’re a confident extrovert who doesn’t give a damn about what other people think.

1) You’re not intimidated by anyone

You treat your boss the same way you talk to your colleagues.

You’re not intimidated by your superiors because, as far as you’re concerned, we’re all humans and so it doesn’t matter if someone’s rich or poor, more powerful or less powerful…you see them as equals.

Sure, powerful people have more power to screw up your life if you somehow piss them off… but you don’t plan to do something that would piss them off anyway.

Not bowing down or kissing ass doesn’t mean you’re provoking them, right? Treating them the way you treat a regular person doesn’t mean you’re insulting them, either.

You have nothing to fear because you’re not committing a crime! Besides, you have a feeling that intimidating people are actually quite lonely precisely because people find them intimidating…so you reach out and break the ice.

2) You speak up.

When someone says something that you disagree with, you don’t just shut up and pretend you didn’t hear anything.

No—you would wait until they’re done and then, as nicely as you can, confront them and tell them what you think.

You don’t care if some people get offended or turned off when you speak your mind. You think it’s more important to be able to express your thoughts freely than to be liked.

And it’s not like you speak up simply to hammer your own point in either, because you are also very curious about their point of view.

You strongly believe that progress can only be made when people can think and discuss more clearly with each other.

3) You freely give compliments

You know that compliments—when genuinely given— can brighten someone’s day, and you couldn’t care less if people will think you’re being annoying or trying too hard. You’d say praises anyway!

Rejection and judgment is something that you’re not too bothered by. To you, it’s just a fact of life that you can’t please everybody.

It’s because of this mindset that you aren’t stingy with your compliments.

It doesn’t matter to you if they’d stare at you like you’re a creep after you told them you like their outfit. It doesn’t matter to you that they won’t reply to your message when you praise their talents.

What does matter to you is making people feel good about themselves. So if you think something is worthy of praise, you give it the praise it deserves.

4. You’re not shy to give grand gestures.

You love giving surprises to the people you love.

You enjoy buying your significant other a bouquet of flowers. You also like throwing surprise parties for your friends and family just to make them feel extra special.

You don’t give a damn whether other people think you’re too much or trying hard to get closer.

We only have so much time with the people we love, after all. Why not use that time making them feel happy and loved?

5. You dress up the way you want to

This is not to say that introverts will always want to dress all drab and boring, while extroverts are stylish by nature.

No—what this means is that you’re confident enough in yourself that you’ll wear whatever you want to wear whenever you please.

Sure, people might think you’re a little too overdressed for the occasion, or that your fashion looks like it came straight from the 1770’s.

But hey, it’s none of their business what you choose to wear!

And again, you really don’t give a damn about others. What’s important for you is your self expression and happiness.

6. You’re comfortable being in the limelight

It doesn’t matter if people are giving you the center stage because you’re dressing up like someone from Roman times or because you’re the host for the Oscars—attention doesn’t faze you.

You’re perfectly okay with being the main character of the day or the star of the night—getting praised, being looked at, and being listened to.

It’s not that you actually ENJOY being looked at—you’re not that vain—it’s that, well, you really don’t give a damn.

You don’t care if they judge you for what you wear or what you say. They’ll forget about it the next day anyway.

It’s not like it’s your problem, really. What’s more important for you is that you’re able to connect to people and even bring joy to their otherwise boring night.

7) You give ideas even if you don’t think they’re the best

You want interaction communication, and teamwork.

And so you have the courage to become vulnerable. Even if what you have in mind isn’t exactly that well-polished or brilliant (hey, you’re self-aware so you know), you share them anyway!

Ideas rarely come out fully formed, so you share whatever ideas you might have with others so that they can poke holes into it and fix what needs fixing.

You’re fine even if others will think that you’re stupid for even sharing, or that your ideas are bland.

you’re just trying to help  after all. And to you, it’s better to share than to risk losing a good idea because you were too scared and stayed quiet.

8) You laugh and cry your heart out.

The same way you’re not shy to express what’s on your mind, you’re also not shy to express what you feel.

You laugh when you find something funny, and will happily share it with whoever you think would appreciate it. You cry when you truly feel like it, and not to elicit pity or to get attention.

Why should we suppress our emotions, after all? So others won’t feel uncomfortable? So that we’ll look cool and composed? Screw all that. You don’t really give a damn.

You believe that everyone has the right to express their emotions, and doing so would make the world a much better place.

9) You’re unapologetically you

You don’t try to change yourself or pretend to be someone else just to fit in and be accepted.

If you’re naturally outgoing and talkative, you aren’t going to suddenly act meek and shy. Neither are you going to try to seem smarter, funnier, or more cultured than who you really are.

Because…why?

You see no point in pretending to be someone you’re not. They’ll eventually see the real you anyways, so it’s just going to be a waste of time.

Besides, you love yourself for who you are and whoever doesn’t like you can just stay away. By being yourself, you’re filtering out the wrong people for you.

10) You want to go deeper

Contrary to popular belief,  extroverts actually want deep connections.

You believe that we’re all here to connect and learn from each other and so because of this, you’re not scared to be the first one to reach out. And you don’t just stop at reaching out and dipping your toes on each other’s lives, you want to take the full plunge.

You’re not scared to open your life to them. And in turn, you’re also not scared if they try to get a little closer to you.

You’re basically an open book, and you’d want to get closer to others as much as possible.

For you, every acquaintance   is an opportunity to open doors to the universe of each individual.

You see, the problem is that everybody thinks introvert are “deep”, while extroverts are the “shallow” ones who care way too much about what others think of them.

Of course, that’s a load of BS!

Don’t think that you have to fit in whatever stereotypes people think fit you. People are complex, after all, and there are shallow introverts just as there are deep extroverts.
